Cold-Soak Method
- Drop 4-6 whole cloves into a glass of room-temperature or filtered water.
- Cover and let it sit in the fridge for 6-8 hours, or overnight.
- Strain out the cloves and drink first thing in the morning, ideally before eating.
Hot-Boil Method
- Add 4-6 whole cloves to 1 cup of water in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- Let it cool slightly, then strain into a glass.
Notes
Start with 4 cloves if you're new to it — the flavor turns bitter past the 8-10 minute mark. For the cold-soak version, skip the stovetop step entirely — just let the cloves sit in water for 6-8 hours (or overnight) instead.
