Ingredients

  • 1 lb frozen green beans
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, optional

Equipment

  • 1 large skillet or frying pan
  • 1 wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • 1 set measuring spoons
  • 1 Parmesan cheese grater
  • 1 citrus juicer — optional

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and butter.
  2. Add the frozen green beans directly to the hot skillet. No thawing is necessary.
  3. Cook for 5–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most of the excess moisture has evaporated and the beans begin to develop lightly browned edges.
  4. Add the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle the Parmesan over the green beans.
  6. Add the lemon juice and optional parsley, then toss gently to coat.
  7. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • No thawing is needed. Add the frozen green beans directly to the hot skillet.
  • Use a large skillet so excess moisture can evaporate instead of steaming the beans.
  • Cook until the beans are tender and lightly browned around the edges for better flavor and texture.
  • Add the garlic near the end of cooking to prevent it from burning.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan gives the best flavor and melts more evenly.
  • For extra brightness, finish with fresh lemon juice and chopped parsley.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
