Turmeric Shot Recipe

A concentrated turmeric wellness shot made with fresh turmeric root, ginger, lemon, and black pepper — ready in 5 minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • 20 gram fresh turmeric root, peeled
  • 1 inch piece fresh ginger, peeled
  • 1/4 cup water
  • ½ teaspoon whole black peppercorns (or 1/4 teaspoon ground)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

Equipment

  • 1 blender or juicer
  • 1 fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
  • 4 small shot glasses
  • 1 pair kitchen gloves (optional)

Method
 

  1. Peel the turmeric root and ginger.
  2. Roughly chop and add to a blender with the water and peppercorns.
  3. Blend on high until completely smooth, about 30-60 seconds
  4. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing to extract liquid.
  5. Stir in the lemon juice and honey or maple syrup, if using.
  6. Divide between shot glasses and drink immediately.

Notes

Turmeric stains skin and surfaces — handle with gloves if desired. Store leftovers in the fridge up to 4 days, or freeze into cubes for up to 3 months.
